Episode Summary
After referring to a segment of the previous episode (Episode 84), we segue to the second Chapter of Indian Tales by Jaime de Angulo, following the family of Bear, Antelope, Fox, and baby Quail from their home in the Pit River Watershed to the coastal area to visit Altelope’s family.
In the second segment, viewers see the third installment of the video series about Native Americans. The video reviews for the third time the arrival of the earliest of Americans across the Bering Land Bridge. Viewers see the subsequent events that take place on this newly populated continent – the construction and inhabiting of cities built on earthen mounds in the Mississippi delta in the current state of Louisiana. Those cities are named Watson Brake and Poverty Point by current researchers. They were built by hunter-gatherers before the Mississippian Culture. They were both major nets of trade that spanned the Eastern portion of North America – westward to the Great Plains.
The third segment shared a review of the story Little Firefly – a traditional story of Native Americans who live in the Great Lakes area. If you want to read the entire story, the book is entitled Little Firefly (Native American Legends). The ISBN-13 is 9780816723638. The ISBN-10 is 081672363X. Your local library may well have this book for checkout. If not, try a used book store or thrift store.
